Laird Noller Automotive Takes a Look at the 2013 LINCOLN MKT

Hot off the unveiling of the 2013 LINCOLN MKS, the American automaker is now showing off its redesigned LINCOLN MKT as well, which is also set for the 2013 model year. The luxury crossover features several of the same design elements as its full-size sedan sounterpart, and Laird Noller Automotive couldn't be more thrilled.

So what exactly is in store for the 2013 LINCOLN MKT? For starters, it gains the same redesigned waterfall grille as the LINCOLN MKS. This new grille is darker, leaner and gives the vehicle a more distinguished presence. And with two vehicles in the new LINCOLN lineup now set to feature it, we can only wonder if this will be more widely adopted in more redesigns in the future?

"The effort behind the new look was to change the proportion of the MKT from the front view. We helped make it feel wider and a bit less tall, less vertical," says Max Wolff, LINCOLN Design Director. "The execution of the new MKT's grille and the grille bars is a lot more refined and elegant."1

The real changes to the LINCOLN MKT, however, are seen under the hood, and they show in how it performs on the road.

For instance, the standard engine for gains more power and efficiency. At its core, it's the same 3.7-liter V6, but it gains 10 percent more horsepower, while also increasing its fuel economy by one mile per gallon. The 2013 model also features Continuously Controlled Dampening, which makes small adjustments to the vehicle's suspension. And finally, the LINCOLN Drive Control system allows the driver to select one of three settings: Normal, Sport, and Comfort.
