Lincoln Boutique Headed to NYC

Now that LINCOLN has left its legacy on The Motor City, they're taking on an even bigger animal. The makers of LINCOLN MKZ are headed to New York City.

The Big Apple will play host to the auto maker's top creative ad firm. Those cut outs and dealer incentives at Laird Noller Automotive in Lawrence, Kansas have to start somewhere, after all.

LINCOLN announced recently they would go to NYC and create a "boutique" ad agency in the Chelsea district of Manhattan. It will be in charge of looking at fresh perspectives for their 96 year old luxury brand.

The agency was dubbed 'Team LINCOLN,' a spinoff of Dearborn-based Team Detroit, and will employ 45 people, while its main unit remains near Detroit.

"LINCOLN is at a crossroads and we have to match the great product we have now and have coming with the right message. ... We really have to get LINCOLN noticed better," said Jim Farley, Ford's group VP for global marketing.1

Many have speculated that agencies are stuck without great creative minds due to their location in Detroit. Most American auto makers have agencies based in coastal cities, including Los Angeles and San Francisco.

We're excited to see what new ideas this plan comes out with, and if a New York spin on LINCOLN will help sales.
