Ford demonstrated their ability to implement innovative technology into their lineup with the Ford Fusion Concept in Detroit at the 2012 North American International Auto Show. Here at home sales are strong and steady, but how are sales faring across the pond?
Our friends in Europe have certainly been enjoying the technology! The American automaker has seen a sales surge! Profits throughout Europe increased in 51 European markets, for a growth of 2.4% in 2011. While those numbers don't sound like much of a surge, it is important to point out that it involves the sale of thousands of new Ford vehicles.
The Blue Oval plans on introducing more than ten new or revitalized European models this year. The American automaker also plans on releasing new diesel and hybrid-electric powertrains.
Stephen Odell, Ford Motor of Europe chairman and CEO said:
"Despite the serious economic challenges we all faced in the region, 2011 was an exciting year for the Ford Motor Company in Europe. We made a commitment to relentlessly deliver new products and technologies even in the toughest of times and it's paying off."1
